Sergei Syrankov, head of the Communist Party of Belarus, has been appointed a member of the Council of the Republic. The corresponding decree was signed by Alexander Lukashenka.

Syrankov is 43 years old; he has been leading the Communist Party of Belarus since May 2024.
He took part in the 2025 presidential elections, and according to official figures, garnered 3.21 percent, outstripping Haidukevich, Kanapatskaya, and Khizhniak.
