The match between Slavia and Lens in the Champions League presented an interesting plot. In the 88th minute, the French conceded, the score became 2:1, and the hosts were already preparing to celebrate victory. But in the 91st minute, 33-year-old Florian Thauvin equalized, writes sports.ru.
Thauvin started at "Marseille", had an unsuccessful spell at "Newcastle", returned to the French Riviera, then went to Mexican "Tigres", made an appearance for "Udinese" and last year returned to his homeland to lead "Lens" into the Champions League.
But something else is interesting: this goal was Florian's second in his career in the main European cup. And almost 13 years have passed since the previous one, or more precisely — 4691 days. Back then, Thauvin sent the ball into Napoli's net.
But the most interesting thing is that this is not a record for the time span between goals scored in the Champions League. The Frenchman is surpassed by Marko Arnautović. Between his goal for "Werder" against "Inter" in 2010 and his goal against "Benfica" in 2023 (for "Inter", which is particularly amusing), 4740 days passed!
But let's return to Prague. By scoring in the 91st minute, Thauvin not only equalized the score but also demoralized the opponent. The Czechs crumbled and conceded a few minutes later from another 33-year-old veteran in the Lens squad — Ruben Aguilar.
