17-year-old Hrodna blogger detained again, now on a new defamation case
After the closure of the fundraiser for the treatment of Vanya Stsiatsenka, a boy from Hrodna, the criminal case against 17-year-old blogger Mikhail Drahun and his 37-year-old girlfriend Yauheniya Tarasenka was not dropped. Moreover, another criminal case was opened against Drahun under Article 188 (defamation) of the Criminal Code of Belarus, after which he was taken into custody, the Investigative Committee reports .

As it became known earlier, Mikhail Drahun and Yauheniya Tarasenka organized a supposedly charitable fundraiser in the summer for 9-year-old Vanya Stsiatsenka, who needed expensive treatment. However, instead of actually helping, they decided to appropriate the collected money.
The investigation revealed that more than 1.5 million rubles were deposited into the accounts of the teenager, his mother, and acquaintances. The young man says that he personally took 60 thousand, which he and his girlfriend spent on a luxurious lifestyle: expensive clothes, a premium car, elite housing, restaurant visits, and vacations abroad.
However, the investigation revealed that the appropriated amount was significantly larger. Mikhail Drahun gambled away over 100,000 rubles solely on online bets. Investigators continue to study financial documents and are finding new evidence of the bloggers' lavish spending.
It is also stated that Drahun is registered with the juvenile delinquency inspectorate for driving without a license, changed five schools during his school years, did not enroll anywhere after school, and is not officially employed. He claims to earn money from his blog, although he is not registered as an individual entrepreneur. He is also registered with a psychiatrist.
Among all participants in the case, only Drahun allegedly refused to hand over the money blocked in his account for the child's treatment, claiming that the funds were intended for prizes for subscribers. However, the people through whom he wanted to withdraw the money gave their consent to transfer them, and the necessary amount was sufficient to close the fundraiser for Vanya's treatment.
After the transfer of more than 266 thousand rubles to the charitable account, the investigation continued. During the examination of the teenager's phone, it was revealed that he allegedly spread defamation against an 18-year-old girl with whom he was previously friends. In his public Instagram account with 190 thousand subscribers, he accused her of stealing 50 thousand rubles. During interrogation, he denies guilt and says that she "scammed him out of money".
Additionally, a criminal case for defamation (Article 188 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) has been opened against Mikhail Drahun. By prosecutor's order, he has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing, and final conclusions will be made after its completion.
