Alcohol, drugs, car thefts… Friends' fun ended in a criminal case
In October, two vehicle thefts occurred in Khotsimsk with a one-day difference. First, a Mercedes-Benz 208 D, parked near a residential building, disappeared, then a VAZ 21053.
Both cases were united by the fact that the car doors were unlocked, and the ignition key was in the lock. After the thefts, the technically sound cars were found on the streets of villages in the Khotsimsk district. During inspections of the incident scenes and the cars themselves, the investigative-operative group confiscated various traces, including odor traces, reported by the State Committee of Forensic Expertise.
It turned out that two previously convicted local residents, aged 19 and 27, might be involved in the thefts. Their clothes and biological samples were sent for forensic examinations.
According to the results of the trace examination conducted at the Kastsyukovichy Interdistrict Department of the State Committee of Forensic Expertise, it was established that the trace on the VAZ glass could have been left by the jacket of the 19-year-old suspect. The results of the odorological examination, conducted at the central office of the State Committee of Forensic Expertise, showed that the odor trace taken from the passenger seat of the VAZ also originated from the younger suspect.
In both cases, odor traces taken from the steering wheel and seats originated from the mentioned 27-year-old citizen. Investigators initiated a criminal case against them.
It was established that at the time of the car theft, the friends were intoxicated, and the unsuccessful driver did not have the right to drive a vehicle. They took the cars simply to go for a ride.
In addition, the older of the suspects faced another setback. In his house, in the attic, police officers discovered suspicious dried plants. According to the results of the forensic examination, it was established that this plant substance is a dangerous narcotic drug, not used for medical purposes — marijuana, weighing one kilogram.
