Belarusian and Russian pilots held for a third day in Tunisia without explanation. Their passports were confiscated

The crew of a Mi-26 helicopter, which was flying to Uganda, has been held for more than 48 hours at Djerba Airport. The passports of the Belarusians and their Russian colleagues were confiscated, and the people are awaiting assistance from diplomats.

According to Baza's information, the crew of a Mi-26 helicopter, which was ferrying the helicopter to Uganda and arrived in Tunisia for a scheduled stop, was detained at Djerba Airport.

There are nine people in the group: seven Russians and two Belarusian citizens. Five of them are flight crew, and four others are responsible for the helicopter's technical maintenance.

All of them work under a UN contract with the 'Kyrgyz Airline'.

As pilot Sergei Suslov told Baza, after arriving in Djerba, the people were not allowed to leave the airport. According to him, the crew members' passports were confiscated, and no official grounds for their detention have been presented to them so far.

Despite the hotels for the crew being paid for in advance, they are not allowed to leave the airport building. For the third day, the people have to spend the night directly in the airport building. Currently, the crew is awaiting assistance from the consulate.
