A CIA drone struck a pier on the coast of Venezuela, sources familiar with the situation told CNN. This was the first time the US attacked a target within the country's territory.

According to CNN's sources, the American government received information that the pier was being used by the Tren de Aragua group for storing drugs and transshipping them onto vessels for further shipment. At the time of the strike, no one was at the facility, so there were no casualties, the TV channel's sources claim.
Last week, US President Donald Trump likely referred to this very operation in an interview. On December 26, he stated that the US destroyed some "major facility from which ships arrive."
On Monday, when Trump was asked about this again, he said that the US carried out an attack "in the dock area where ships are loaded with drugs." However, he declined to comment on whether the attack was carried out by the military or the CIA.
Recently, the US has destroyed over 30 vessels in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean, explaining this as part of a campaign against drug trafficking.
