Chonhar Bridge blocked again after UAV attack: traffic towards Crimea is blocked
Traffic through the Chonhar Bridge between the occupied territories of Kherson Oblast and the Crimean Peninsula has been cut off again. The cause of the latest stoppage of traffic was overnight strikes by Ukrainian drones.
The occupation head of Kherson Oblast, Vladimir Saldo, confirmed that new damage was recorded on the bridge as a result of the hits.
According to Saldo, Russian air defense forces shot down more than 20 Ukrainian UAVs on approach, however, damage could not be avoided.
All traffic is now being redirected along routes through Armiansk and Perekop.
This is already the second serious attack on the bridge this week. On June 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had already struck the bridge in the Chonhar area. At that time, vehicle traffic through the Dzhankoi checkpoint was also completely blocked.
Systematic attacks on the Chonhar Bridge show that Ukrainian forces maintain fire control over this key logistics hub.
