Zelenskyy: It would be preferable for Trump to fly to Ukraine by plane

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a visit by US President Donald Trump to Ukraine would be very beneficial. He particularly emphasized that it would be preferable for Trump to fly directly to Ukraine by plane, rather than arriving, like all other foreign guests, first in Poland, and then by train from the border.

Zelenskyy noted that Trump's arrival would indicate the possibility of counting on a ceasefire and American support for a plan to end the war.

He added that Ukraine is ready to receive the US president at any moment if all conditions are created and security is guaranteed.

Trump himself stated on December 28 that he does not currently plan a visit to Ukraine, but does not rule out such a possibility if it helps achieve peace.

Additionally, Zelenskyy commented on a statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk that the US might deploy its troops in Ukraine as part of security guarantees after peace is achieved. He said:

“To be honest, the US President can confirm this. These are US troops, and therefore America makes such decisions. Of course, we are discussing this with both President Trump and representatives of the coalition of the willing. We would like this. This would be a strong position in security guarantees.”
