Lithuania prepares to blow up bridges on the border with Belarus and Russia
Large-scale engineering works have begun on bridges near the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. The Lithuanian Armed Forces informed LRT that this is part of a strategic plan to strengthen the Baltic defense line.
The main goal of these works is to prepare transport infrastructure for rapid destruction in case of a military threat.
Special structures designed for the operational attachment of explosives are being installed on the bridges. The military selects objects based on the terrain and their significance for the country's defense.
In addition to preparing bridges for demolition, the Lithuanian side is implementing other security measures. Dozens of sites have been created for storing anti-tank hedgehogs and other obstacles. Forest belts are being planted along strategic roads for camouflage and protection. Irrigation ditches are being deepened, which can serve as trenches or anti-tank ditches.
Thus, Lithuania is consistently transforming its border infrastructure into a defense system capable of maximally slowing down the movement of a potential enemy.
