A new instant payment system using QR codes, launched by the National Bank in test mode, has started working in Belarus. For now, it is being tested within a pilot project: three banks are participating in it, and payments are accepted in two large stores, writes sb.by.

Payment for goods is made using the National Bank's instant payment system and the "Krok" service.
As noted by the National Bank, the new "Krok" service is created based on the existing instant payment infrastructure and the ERIP payment system. The main feature is that bank cards are not used for calculations — money is transferred directly from the payer's account to the legal entity's account in real-time. The system operates around the clock, seven days a week.
Bank representatives emphasize that all transactions occur online, and revenue is immediately credited to the settlement account. To pay, it is enough to have a mobile application and an open current account. If there is none, the system allows you to quickly open an account and top it up — both from a card and through the payment infrastructure.
It is expected that in February 2026, the National Bank will approve the operating rules for the "Krok" system. By July 1st, all systemically important banks of the first group should join it, and by the end of the year, all banks in the country will participate in the project.
