Heavy snowfall has become a serious test for all services and organizations. Belarusians have raised questions, including about taxis. The phenomenon is not new: as soon as weather conditions worsen, fares double or even more.

Tochka.by readers reported that they sometimes had to wait for a car for about two hours. While waiting in bad weather is more or less understandable, let's once and for all deal with the issue of increased fares.
The question was answered by Victoria Romanchikova, an advocate and head of the legal consultation office of Dobrush district.
She immediately emphasized: the legislation of the Republic of Belarus does not provide for the regulation of prices (fares) for taxi services. Therefore, the cost of trips is set independently by carriers or aggregators.
"Their [prices, fares] increase due to worsening weather conditions does not contradict the law," Romanchikova concluded.
However, she noted that, according to the law on consumer protection, carriers have an obligation to timely provide necessary and accurate information about the price of the taxi services provided.
This means that the passenger must be clearly and promptly informed in advance about how much they will pay for the trip.
