As reported by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, a 40-year-old resident of the capital was detained red-handed by drug control operatives of the Leninsky District Department of Internal Affairs together with border service employees. During a search at his place of residence, more than one kilogram of the narcotic substance — mephedrone — was found.

According to the agency, the man picked up large stashes of drugs, divided them into small doses in his apartment, and then placed them in caches in the forest park areas of Minsk. The detainee himself explained that he found the illegal "part-time job" through one of the thematic groups in a messenger.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under the article on illegal drug trafficking with intent to sell.
Mephedrone, according to open medical sources, is a synthetic designer drug. It contains laboratory-created alkaloids of the cathinone group and has a strong stimulating effect on the nervous system. Due to its intense effect, addicted people quickly develop a need to increase the dose.
