Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Pavel Latushka stated that with this resolution, "the Cabinet shows how any healthy state should behave towards those who fight for it. From myself, I want to add another important thing. Thousands of Belarusians, men and women, have either gone through or are illegally held in Lukashenka's regime prisons. They are political prisoners. This is a human rights status. The Cabinet's resolution, as a proto-state institution, in turn, effectively grants these people an additional status, corresponding to their important historical and socio-political role in the life of the Republic of Belarus. And it undertakes the obligation not only to record it for the future but already today, now, to fight for the freedom of each and every one of them by means available to us, including through international and sanctions pressure."
Vadzim Kabanchuk, Representative for Defense and National Security of the UTC, notes that the resistance movement was diverse and evolved.
"There were groups such as "railway partisans", Ałinievich's groups, "Black Nightingales". We draw attention to all groups of patriots, regardless of the tools of struggle they used. We emphasize that we value the contribution of these people and their sacrifice. History and time will put everything in its place. These boys and girls will enter history textbooks of Belarus as heroes," says Vadzim Kabanchuk.
According to Volha Zazulinskaya, Representative for Social Policy, the document lays the groundwork for further work, within which specific and realistic mechanisms for social assistance, rehabilitation, and guarantees will be developed. The resolution also considers the families of the deceased. "This is a matter of justice and human solidarity, without which it is impossible to build a new Belarus," she added.
