Russian streamers walk from Moscow to Minsk to shake hands with Lukashenka

Two young men overcome hundreds of kilometers without a pre-planned route, sleeping in a tent and rubbing their feet raw. All to reach the Belarusian capital and meet Lukashenka.

Russian streamers Daniil Koshel and Ivan Skrypka began their trek from Moscow in mid-August, documenting each stage on the Twitch platform and on social media.

The young men covered the first 50 kilometers to Kubinka by August 15, and a day later reached Mozhaysk. Their walking pace is about 35-40 kilometers per day: for example, on August 19, approaching the Russian city of Gagarin, the program recorded over 41 thousand steps.

After a short rest in Vyazma, 250 kilometers from Moscow, the travelers sped up and by August 25 crossed the 300-kilometer mark near Safonovo, taking over 57 thousand steps on some days.

The Russians covered half of the route (400 kilometers) at the end of August before Smolensk, after which they crossed the Belarusian border. This happened on the 17th day of the hike and on Lukashenka's birthday, which the Russian streamers congratulated him on in one of their videos.

In the first days of September, the bloggers made their mark in Orsha and Talochyn.

The decision to embark on the long journey was spontaneous. The bloggers admit that they were inspired by the failure of their colleague Aslan Shukash, who tried to walk a similar route but gave up on the second day. The Russians didn't even know about the previous project by Belarusian streamers, who successfully walked from Minsk to Moscow a year earlier.

Lack of travel experience and prior planning led to physical problems right from the start. Due to the unusual strain, their feet had to be covered with dozens of plasters daily, and they took painkillers.

In early September, when the Russians reached the Barysaŭ district, they were intercepted by Belarusian propagandists. Employees of "Minskaya Pravda" specifically came to meet the streamers near the agro-town of Loshnitsa with coffee and sweets.

In an interview with the publication, Koshel noted that the well-maintained Belarusian agricultural fields strongly contrasted with the Russian forest areas. The young men also spoke about the attention of local residents, who treated them to homemade bacon in the Krupki district, brought goat's milk in Orsha, and met them in whole groups in villages. The only serious fear for the Russians on Belarusian territory was the possibility of encountering a bear during their overnight stays in the forest.

The Russians call their main motivation for the journey a political gesture. "Our goal is to achieve a handshake from the President of Belarus. I don't know how worthy we are of this. We are just walking," Koshel stated.

From Minsk to Moscow

Recall that in May and June 2025, Belarusian video bloggers Vital Khramtsoŭ (Bulbanews) and Anton Dramaturh walked about 780 kilometers along the same route from Minsk to Moscow in approximately one month.

The Belarusians also conducted continuous broadcasts on Twitch and did not use transport, but they opted out of heavy backpacks with tents in favor of overnight stays in hostels and hotels. The Belarusian travelers finished at kilometer zero on Red Square, where one of the participants proposed to his girlfriend. By the way, Vital Khramtsoŭ, who previously made humorous videos without political overtones, was detained by security forces in Vitsebsk in 2024.
