Prosecutorial inspections showed that in a number of agricultural organizations, the rules for burying and destroying animal carcasses and products of animal origin were not observed.
In one case, dead animals and their remains were buried not in a specially designated burial ground (skotamohilnik), but on an adjacent, unfenced territory. Due to this, decomposing carcasses could be accessed by both unauthorized people and stray and wild animals.
Some of the carcasses were not buried at all: they were kept in a trailer and simply on the territory of the dairy complex. According to the prosecutor's office, deceased animals were not timely removed from farms, and the necessary conditions for their collection and disposal were not created.
Facts of inaccurate data entry into documentation were also revealed — false dates were entered into the registers of birth and calving, including regarding stillborn calves.
In another farm, the burial ground was not properly equipped: there was no fence, no lid with locks, and no canopy. Carcass remains were piled in a pit and partially covered with snow.
The prosecutor's office emphasized that such violations pose a threat of spreading infectious diseases among animals, especially given the access of wild animals and birds to the remains.
The head of the district executive committee was issued demands to eliminate the identified violations, bring the burial grounds and adjacent territories in line with veterinary and sanitary norms, organize proper conditions for the collection and disposal of animal carcasses, conduct an investigation into the facts of documentation distortion, and consider bringing those responsible to justice.
