The Hollywood legend previously stated: “History is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are for doing that, but it hurts.”

The US President berated the Hollywood legend after his call for “resistance,” writes Bild.
On his Truth Social platform, the Republican wrote about actor Robert De Niro: “Robert De Niro, a total Trump Derangement Syndrome victim, and another sick and demented person with, I assume, an extraordinarily low IQ, has absolutely no clue as to what he is doing or saying – much of it, in fact, is criminal.”
By the phrase "Trump Derangement Syndrome," the US president and many of his supporters refer to what they perceive as the obsessive rejection of Trump by political opponents.
The reason for Trump's tirade was De Niro's appearance on The Best with Nicole Wallace podcast, in which the actor called on Americans to resist the current president and said it was "the only way."
“History is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are for doing that, but it hurts. [...] Everyone has to stick together to get rid of him,” De Niro said, addressing US citizens.
Robert De Niro has clearly positioned himself as Trump's opponent since his first term. He has repeatedly publicly criticized the president. Last year, the star of "Taxi Driver," "The Deer Hunter," "Once Upon a Time in America," and "The Godfather Part II" called Trump "limited" in his speech after receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2016, De Niro stated that Trump was a pig and a dog and that he “would like to punch him in the face.”
