A Minsk resident contacted the police: her 19-year-old son took family savings from home and is not responding. The woman suggested that he was under the influence of fraudsters, reports the Telegram channel "Minsk Police".
Indeed, the young man fell victim to scammers who, under the guise of replacing meters, extracted a code from an SMS, and then called him via messenger and threatened him with a criminal case.
Intimidating him with a search and confiscation of money, they convinced him to "declare" family savings.
The guy took over 50,000 rubles from home, put them in a backpack, and hid them in a park, sending the coordinates to his interlocutor.
But operatives managed to find the young man before the intermediary picked up the cash from the hiding place. The money will be returned to the parents.
