How to preserve a bouquet of tulips for up to 10 days. Useful tips
On March 8, hundreds of thousands of men across Belarus brought home bouquets of traditional flowers for International Women's Day. These, in turn, ended up in vases in thousands of apartments and houses. And here the question arises: how to keep tulips fresh for as long as possible?

The publication Telegraf.news collected expert advice (from sellers and growers) on how to extend the life of spring flowers. And it turned out that there's nothing complicated, it's just important to follow a few rules. All of them do not require extra financial costs, only a little time and attention to the bouquets.
Cold water
Tulips love ice-cold water. This means you can even drop a few ice cubes into the vase. At night, the bouquet can be taken out onto a glazed balcony (but only if there is no sub-zero temperature there);
Less water
Don't try to fill jars and vases to the brim. This is precisely the case where more is worse. Pour only 5-7 cm of water so that the tulip stems do not rot.
Don't forget to trim
Refresh the cut ends of the stems with a sharp knife or scissors at a 45-degree angle every 1-2 days. Cut off about 1 cm. The reason is the same — prevent the stems from rotting. And stems should be cut at an angle to increase the surface area for water absorption.
Coolness
Unlike potted flowers, a bouquet of cut flowers should be kept away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heating devices.
Removing leaves
Remove the lower leaves, if possible, so that they do not sit in the water and rot.
Bad vase neighbors
Tulips, by the way, cannot stand being next to daffodils (they release poisonous sap into the water). But a sugar cube (a teaspoon per liter of water) or an aspirin tablet will help the flowers last longer.
And there's no need to be alarmed if the bouquet quickly wilts after being brought home.
"If you buy them at such a price, you need to bring them home, make a fresh cut, and put them in water in a cool place, just in the wrapping you bought them in! Let them drink overnight and in the morning, it's a completely different flower! This is a tulip, it even grows while standing in a vase!" — Belarusians advise each other on social networks.
