Construction of a second barbed wire fence resumed on the Polish-Belarusian border
Poland has begun construction of a second barbed wire fence on the border with Belarus. Initially, these works were planned to be completed by this spring, but due to unfavorable weather, they were postponed for a long time, according to Polish radio RMF FM.

In the coming days, work will begin in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The new barrier will be a chain-link fence, erected on posts approximately four meters high. Two rolls of barbed wire are planned to be placed on top, and two more behind the fence.
According to the commander of the Podlaskie Border Guard, Sławomir Klekotka, such a structure should make crossing the border more difficult. The more time it takes to climb over the barrier, the more time border guards will have to react.
Military engineers have already arrived at the units of the Polish Border Guard, where they are discussing construction plans with officers.
At the same time, the Polish Border Guard noted that since the beginning of 2026, migration pressure on the Polish-Belarusian border has been low. This was largely due to cold weather and severe frosts.
