Specifically, ice has receded on the Horyn River near the village of Malyya Vikaravichy in Stolin District. This is a tributary of the Pripyat. The water level also rose on another tributary of the Pripyat – the Stviga River near Karotsichy in Stolin District: there, the water has already spilled onto the floodplain. A similar situation is observed on the Berezina near the city of Berezino.
At the same time, ice cover still persists on most Belarusian rivers. Ice holds on the Dnieper, Sozh, and also on separate sections of the Pripyat, Neman, and Viliya. On the Pripyat section Chernichy — Mozyr, the ice has already broken up, as it has on some tributaries of the Sozh and Dnieper.
The water level on most rivers increased by 1-23 centimeters over the past day. The fastest rise is observed in the Dvina basin – there, the water has risen by up to 68 centimeters in places over the past day.
Overall, an increase in water levels is currently observed on most rivers in the Pripyat and Dnieper basins.
