Vasilisa, a resident of the capital, noticed an unusual mushroom on a tree trunk near her house. It turned out to be a very rare species, listed in the Red Book, writes Blizko.by.
A rare and unusual mushroom, Volvariella bombycina, was captured. Young mushrooms of this species have an egg shape, covered with a characteristic velvety or fluffy white coating. As it grows, the "shell" breaks open, revealing a large mushroom with a white cap and gills.
The mushroom is found in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and Caribbean countries. It appears in summer and autumn in deciduous and mixed forests, parks on living and dead trunks of deciduous trees – often on lime, maple, poplar, or oak.
Despite being edible, this mushroom is included in the Red Book of Belarus. It is strictly forbidden to collect it, as a fine is imposed for doing so.
