A ranking of the highest-paid athletes in history has been published, with legendary American basketball player Michael Jordan still holding the top spot.

According to Sportico magazine, the total earnings of six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan amounted to 3.28 billion dollars (4.5 billion including inflation). He is followed by another American celebrity — golfer Tiger Woods with a capital of 1.97 billion dollars (2.88 billion including inflation).
The list of the top three richest athletes in history is completed by the Portuguese forward of Saudi "Al-Nassr" — Cristiano Ronaldo ($2.52 billion including inflation).
The top 10 highest-paid athletes, adjusted for inflation, also include:
- American basketball player LeBron James (2.03 billion);
- Argentine forward of Inter Miami Lionel Messi (1.99 billion);
- American golfers Arnold Palmer (1.85 billion) and Jack Nicklaus (1.83 billion);
- ex-England national team footballer David Beckham (1.68 billion);
- Swiss tennis player Roger Federer (1.67 billion);
- American boxer Floyd Mayweather (1.57 billion).
The only woman in this elite ranking was American tennis player Serena Williams, who ranks 40th with earnings of 680 million dollars.
