The first rescue units arrived at the scene around three in the morning. Six fire trucks, six ambulances, and a special unit for working in hard-to-reach areas, equipped with an aerial ladder, were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Initially, 16 injured people were reported, suffering from burns, smoke inhalation, and breathing difficulties. Later, the information was clarified: the number of dead increased to 11 people, and the injured to 19. It is not excluded that the number of victims may increase further.

According to the latest data, ten people sustained burns of varying severity, two suffered from breathing problems, and another seven are in a state of psychological trauma after the incident.

Rescuers also evacuated five people with disabilities and took them to a safe place.

Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Grib visited the injured at a specialized burn center in Zeralda, and then went to Mustafa Pasha University Hospital, where other injured individuals are also located.

In recent days, Algeria has been suffering from abnormally high temperatures. Against this background, about a thousand fires have broken out in various regions of the country in just one week. The causes of the fire at the orphanage are currently being investigated.
