The Kremlin press service disseminated a message stating that Putin made a decision on an Easter ceasefire from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026.
Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov have been instructed to cease hostilities in all directions during this time, but to be ready to "stop possible provocations."
Putin hopes that the Ukrainian side will also not fight during this time.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy was the first to call for an Easter ceasefire earlier.
Ukraine will also cease fire for Easter. The President of Ukraine announced this in response to Putin's decision.
"Ukraine has stated many times that we are ready for reciprocal measures. This year we proposed a ceasefire for the Easter holidays and will act accordingly," Zelenskyy said.
"People need an Easter without threats and real movement towards peace, and Russia has a chance not to resume strikes after Easter," the President of Ukraine added.
