The ruling Fidesz–KDNP alliance receives 55 seats (38.43%), the far-right "Our Homeland" — 6 (5.83%). Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded defeat and promised "not to give up."
The Tisza party won a constitutional majority in the Hungarian parliament based on the election results. Orbán, who has held the prime minister position since 2010, will have to leave it.
Tisza leader Péter Magyar urged Orbán not to make decisions that could hinder the party's future activities.
The National Assembly of Hungary is elected by a mixed system: 106 seats are distributed in single-mandate constituencies by a majoritarian principle (meaning a relative majority of votes is sufficient for victory), and 93 — by party lists in a nationwide constituency under a proportional system.
