Belarusian forward Ilya Protas of the Hershey Bears has been included in the American Hockey League's All-Rookie Team for the 2025/2026 season (the second most significant hockey league in North America after the NHL), reports "Belarusian Hockey".
19-year-old Ilya, selected by the Washington Capitals in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft, leads among AHL rookies and ranks eighth overall in scoring, with 62 points (28 goals, 34 assists) in 66 games for Hershey. He became the team's best in goals, points, power-play goals (10), and plus/minus rating (+16).
On April 4, in a game against Hartford, he recorded five assists and six points. On April 8, Protas debuted in the NHL with the Capitals, and in four games, he scored one goal and provided three assists.
Each player will receive a custom-designed crystal award in recognition of their inclusion in the AHL All-Rookie Team for the 2025–2026 season.
After four games in Washington, Ilya returned to Hershey to finish the regular season and then participate again in the playoffs (Calder Cup).
