The American city of Shreveport has faced the most massive act of violence in its recent history. Responding to a routine call about a family dispute, police officers found the bodies of eight children aged 1 to 14.

The morning of April 19 began for Louisiana residents with a large-scale police operation. A report of a domestic conflict, received around 6 AM, led patrol officers to a residential block that turned into a real combat zone in just a few minutes.
As reported by NBC News, citing local police, a total of ten people sustained gunshot wounds. For eight children, aged between one and fourteen, these injuries were fatal. Law enforcement officials have not yet commented on the condition of the other two victims.
Shreveport Police spokesperson Christopher Bardelon noted during a briefing the unusual scale of the crime, which encompassed several addresses. According to him, forensic experts are working across a wide area. The officer's exact quote paints a chaotic picture of the morning attack:
"There are three different crime scenes here. The shooting itself occurred very close, in the 300 block of West 79th Street. There's another related shooting on Harrison Street, and a neighboring house on West 79th where one of the victims fled after the attack."

Escape, Pursuit, and Neutralization of the Shooter
The perpetrator could not be apprehended immediately, as he had managed to leave the scene of the bloody massacre. A police representative stated that the suspect forcibly took a car not far from the intersection of West 79th Street and Linwood.
It was after this armed carjacking that Shreveport patrol units began a vehicular pursuit. The chase ended in neighboring Bossier Parish, where officers shot and killed the fleeing suspect during a confrontation.
Police are convinced that the neutralized man was the only person who opened fire on people that day.
The attacker's identity has not yet been revealed in the interest of the investigation, but Christopher Bardelon confirmed the most horrific detail of this case: some of the killed children were direct descendants of the shooter.
What exactly compelled the father or relative to take up arms and kill his own blood relatives is yet to be determined by the investigation.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux also did not hide his emotions, calling the incident perhaps the worst tragedy in the city's entire history.
