Woman went to the philharmonic and was outraged that a violinist's bra strap slipped on stage

The strap sparked a discussion about etiquette and the very essence of art perception.

Olga shared on Threads that she had been to a symphony concert at the philharmonic in Minsk the day before: "Everything was wonderful. But! The first violinist's bra strap slipped from under her sleeveless dress. (...) How is that possible? This is 'South! Culture!'... Or is it normal?"

People connected with the musical sphere quickly reacted to the post. One of the participants in the discussion, apparently a musician, explained:

"According to the etiquette for orchestra artists' behavior – we are not allowed to adjust bra straps on stage, even if something happened. Only during the intermission, unnoticed by the audience."

She added that such situations are not uncommon and often unpredictable:

"It's an unpleasant surprise that is impossible to foresee... And it's terribly uncomfortable, believe me. It's unsightly for you to watch, and uncomfortable for us to play. But we endure it."

Other artists began sharing their own mishaps. It turned out that a bra strap was a minor thing:

"My dress almost slipped off on stage once, luckily I noticed something was wrong in time. Otherwise, a striptease would have been an interesting conclusion to the image."

"My stocking once started slipping off my 'working' leg. I exited the stage with a very model-like walk."

Some ironized about the woman's complaint. She was accused of excessive focus on everyday trifles instead of art.

One commenter noted: "And did you check the dust on the baseboards? Was the mirror clean? I go to concerts to listen to music. And artists are also people, and they have wardrobe malfunctions. It's striking that out of the entire concert, you only noticed a part of the violinist's wardrobe."

This similar opinion was supported by others:

"If that's the only thing you thought about... then the problem isn't with the straps."
"The focus was on the music, the concert, your mood, but obviously not on bad manners."

A woman who was at the same concert admitted that she didn't even notice the problem because she was engrossed in the music.

Another added:

"I can understand an embarrassing situation when a strap has gone rogue, but I cannot understand when an adult woman tears down another successful woman over such a trifle."

Some discussion participants tried to bring the conversation back to the main point — professionalism:

"The main thing is that they play wonderfully and interestingly. It's much worse when an artist looks brilliant but plays god knows what."
"Even if both straps fall off — I just can't unhear the most off-key solo from 'Scheherazade'... that's the real problem."

Others were more categorical:

"Your post is one of those cases where 'you considered yourself cultured people, but they put you back.' And again, the question of why you focused specifically on this moment remains open. I wish you to attend such concerts more often, where people come to listen and enjoy the performance."
