Currently, a rule is already in effect in Lithuania, according to which Russians without a residence permit cannot buy real estate. For Belarusians, there are no such restrictions yet, but they are planned to be introduced.
The government is asked to prepare draft laws by October 1 that would not only restrict Belarusians from purchasing housing, but also prohibit citizens of both countries from acquiring real estate near strategically important objects.
The idea to restrict purchases and allow them only to those who have a permanent residence permit in Lithuania was previously proposed by conservatives. However, according to the law, only the government, not the deputies themselves, can propose such restrictions.
