Tatsiana Staseva is 59 years old. She is a resident of Minsk. In 1983, she graduated from school №123, and then entered the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute (now BSUIR), from which she graduated in 1988. Tatsiana has an adult daughter and son.
Ms. Tatsiana loves spending time at her dacha, gardening, and picking mushrooms and berries. She also travels around Belarus.
The peaceful life of the Minsk resident was interrupted on May 21, 2025, when she was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center. According to human rights defenders, the criminal prosecution of the pensioner is related to the case of the "Belarusian Gayun" project.
Tatsiana was tried in the Minsk City Court under two articles of the Criminal Code: Part 3 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code (calls for sanctions and other actions aimed at causing harm to Belarus) and Part 1 of Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code (facilitating extremist activities).
Under these articles, she could only be sentenced to a penal colony. The sentence recently came into force.
