"We have different symbols." In Vitsebsk, pro-Russian activists with St. George's ribbons were not allowed to cause a stir
Vitsebsk pro-Russian activist Elvira Mirsalimava complained on her Telegram channel that during the May 9 celebration, a conflict arose around the distribution of St. George's ribbons, and published a corresponding video.

Pro-Russian activists, along with a person holding a portrait of Stalin, were distributing ribbons to children and adults and urging them to take them.
At one point, women approached them and stated that St. George's ribbons "do not match the uniform," because Belarus uses different symbolism. In response, the activists began to argue and remind them of the common history of the war.
"We fought, I don't dispute that, but we have different symbols," one of the women replied.
Mirsalimava says that some representatives of official structures behaved aggressively and interfered with the distribution of the ribbons. According to her, she had not noticed such situations before.
Last year, Aliaksandr Lukashenka had to explain the weak use of St. George's ribbons in Belarus twice — to Vladimir Putin himself and to Russian ambassador Boris Gryzlov.
