Rain helped stabilize the fire situation on the border of Ukraine and Belarus
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a large-scale fire that broke out in the Zhytomyr region on the territory of the Polissya Nature Reserve near the border with Belarus has been localized. Overnight, Ukrainian rescuers continued work to extinguish the fire, noted the "Flagstock" publication.

Regarding the large fire in the Chernobyl zone, smoke from which was blowing towards the Gomel region, there is currently no detailed official information from rescuers, but, according to online services, rain fell in that area the day before, which helped stabilize the situation.
Today, according to NASA data, there are no major fires on the border. Air quality in the cities of the Gomel region as of the morning of May 9 was satisfactory.
