Minister Zhuk switched from Russian to Belarusian in his speech at the Collegium of the Ministry of Information
Dmitry Zhuk, the newly appointed Minister of Information, emphasized at a meeting of the ministry's collegium that the main direction of the agency's work is now the transition to digital technologies. He stated that today the ministry should no longer be perceived as a structure dealing only with newspapers, magazines, and television, as the information sphere is rapidly changing and increasingly moving into the digital space.

The main emphasis in the new minister's speech was on "digital taking the lead." According to Dmitry Zhuk, the system of information dissemination and content consumption has changed: young people increasingly do not have televisions, and the main part of informational life is shifting to smartphones and the internet. Therefore, approaches to media work must be significantly updated.
Meanwhile, the official report from the event notes that Dmitry Zhuk "freely switched from Russian to Belarusian in his speech - and this is no accident." However, they did not further develop this thesis, so the exact reason for this "non-accident" can only be speculated upon and various versions built.
Separately, the minister touched upon the field of book publishing. He noted that the printing industry needs to search for new formats and directions, as old methods no longer work. In this context, he expressed concern about the fate of literary magazines "Maladost" (Youth) and "Polymia" (Flame) and emphasized the importance of preventing their disappearance as cultural brands. He also called for non-standard solutions and updated approaches to the dissemination of literature.
Zhuk emphasized that the ministry plans to cooperate more closely with the Ministry of Education to adapt content to the modern behavior of the audience, especially young people living in a digital environment.
Special attention was paid to regional state media. The minister stated that the reduction of their own content is unacceptable and that this issue will be under special control. At the same time, an increased presence of regional media on the internet is planned. For this purpose, seminars and workshops will be organized in the second half of 2026, where media websites, social networks, and other digital platforms will be analyzed.
Also, the meeting discussed issues of developing state publishing houses, adjusting plans for the release of socially significant literature for 2026, and regulating the licensing of printing activities.
