In Polotsk, the court sentenced a 61-year-old bus driver, who was found guilty of causing a passenger's death after a road accident, reported the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office.

The tragedy occurred during a city route. According to court materials, the driver stopped to pick up and drop off people, but did not make sure that one of the passengers had not exited the cabin and began to close the doors.
As a result, the 93-year-old woman lost her balance and fell onto the road. Despite the fact that she was near the bus and could have been noticed, the driver continued to move and ran over her.
The pensioner died on the spot from the severe injuries sustained.
The court found the man guilty of violating traffic rules, which negligently led to a person's death. He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment in a penal settlement colony, and also prohibited from driving vehicles for five years.
