On the "60 Minutes" program on CBS News, Trump stated: "I've been associated with things that have nothing to do with me. I was completely exonerated." Commenting on the attacker's text, where the US President was called a "pedophile, rapist, and traitor," Trump emphasized: "Yes, he wrote that. But I am not a rapist. I have not raped anyone. I read that manifesto. He is a sick person."
The incident occurred on the evening of April 25 in Washington. During the ceremonial event, shots were fired, forcing special services to urgently evacuate Donald, Melania Trump, and other high-ranking US officials.
According to law enforcement, the attacker turned out to be 31-year-old California teacher Cole Thomas Allen. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that his target was specifically President Trump and members of his administration.
Trump himself added in comments to CBS News that such a tragedy would never have happened if a "large and secure ballroom" had been built on the White House grounds.
