US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are heading to Islamabad, where they plan to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi. However, US Vice President J.D. Vance is not yet planning to participate in this round of talks, writes CNN, citing sources.

Previously, J.D. Vance led the American delegation in talks with Iran, but now he is not going because Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf is not participating in the meeting. At the same time, Vance is ready to join if the negotiations begin to yield results.
It is expected that in Islamabad, the Iranian side will present its position regarding further dialogue with the United States. Currently, an American delegation is already present in Pakistan, but it performs only auxiliary functions and does not have the authority to conduct negotiations.
Iran continues to insist that a key condition for advancing the talks is the lifting of the American blockade of its ports.
At the same time, reports appeared in Israeli media about Ghalibaf's possible withdrawal from the negotiating team. According to some sources, this may be due to disagreements within the Iranian leadership and the failure of initiatives related to the partial restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Official representatives of Iran denied this information and stated that Ghalibaf continues to perform his duties, and the final composition of the negotiating delegation has not yet been determined.
