«In fact, this is not a new project. We have been promoting it for several years, generally to give more visas to Belarusians and invite more Belarusians to Europe. But the answer we received was — security, additional checks need to be carried out, special conditions introduced. And so we came to the option — to promote and attract more youth, because this is the group we need to intercept, this is the group that is more oriented towards Europe,» Margarita Vorykhava noted.
She also believes that young people have less risk of being «affiliated with the KGB or other structures» due to their age.
«We are now proposing to create a young Belarusian visa for those aged 18-30, to issue it under simplified terms not only for permanent residence in Europe, that is, not only for those who are going to leave due to repression, but also for those who simply want to experience Europe for themselves, to feel what it is like, and then return to Belarus,» says the representative of the UTC.
Thus, according to Margarita Vorykhava, it will be possible to break the propaganda narratives about «bad Europe»:
«This can only be done if you are physically there, feel that there is freedom, and when you return to Belarus and can then tell your friends, family, and thus counteract propaganda,» the politician is convinced.
