Zelenskyy's former press secretary went to Tucker and recounted Russian propaganda talking points

Yulia Mendel, former press secretary to Volodymyr Zelenskyy (from June 2019 to July 2021), appeared on Tucker Carlson's show — an American host known for his pro-Russian rhetoric and interviews with Putin and Dugin.

One of Mendel's most resonant statements was that in 2022, the Ukrainian leader was allegedly ready to hand over Donbas to Russia for the sake of peace. Mendel claimed that during negotiations in Istanbul in spring 2022, the Ukrainian delegation allegedly agreed to all of the Kremlin's demands. She referred to confidential conversations with unnamed participants of the meeting, who allegedly confirmed Zelenskyy's personal consent to territorial concessions.

The Office of the President of Ukraine reacted very sharply to the former employee's outburst. They called this information absurd and characterized Mendel herself as a person who «has long not been herself.» The Presidential Office emphasized that Mendel was no longer working in state structures at the time of the negotiations and had no involvement in the negotiation process or decision-making.

Representatives of the President of Ukraine noted that commenting on the words of a person in such a psycho-emotional state is «unserious.»

Yulia Mendel also voiced numerous talking points that echo Russian propaganda narratives. According to her, Zelenskyy is «emotionally uncontrolled,» «lacks empathy, only plays it,» he is «an incredible actor whose performance is devoid of substance.»

During Mendel's work in the Presidential Office, she allegedly repeatedly heard from Zelenskyy that «Ukraine is not ready for democracy,» and «dictatorship is order.»

The former press secretary of the president says that Zelenskyy «deliberately prolongs the war» to stay in power, because for him, its end would mean «political suicide.»

Mendel equated the presidents of Russia and Ukraine.

«We see Putin as evil, but Zelenskyy is also evil. Just hidden. On camera, he plays a teddy bear, but when the lights go out, he turns into a grizzly that destroys people.»

This is far from the first instance of scandals involving Mendel. Earlier, she had already attracted media attention with stories about the inner workings of the Ukrainian government. She claimed that the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, allegedly practices magic, visits cemeteries, and uses «dead water.» She called Yermak «a very dangerous person» and stated that her safety was at risk.
