«We will selectively demobilize units to prepare them for war». Lukashenka announced changes in the army
Alexander Lukashenka held a meeting with Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin on May 12, the main topic of which was personnel issues in the army and the results of a recent inspection of the army's combat readiness, writes BelTA.

Lukashenka noted that the effectiveness of service largely depends on specific individuals in leadership positions. In his opinion, if the «right person» is in place, the situation in the unit will be normal, and if not, problems may arise. In this regard, he instructed the Minister of Defense to analyze the composition of command personnel and prepare proposals.
The results of a large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces were also discussed.
«You were dealing with it there: somewhere principled, and somewhere so... I was waiting for you to sort out the good things and the shortcomings yourselves (there are always plenty of them). But we particularly did not hide the shortcomings that occur in the army. I decided that we do not need to hide these shortcomings, but we also did not particularly put them on display», — Lukashenka stated, noting that allegedly «we did this more openly than the leadership of other countries».
He also said that Belarus remains a peaceful country, but the army must be ready for any scenarios:
«Further, as I promised, we will selectively demobilize units to prepare them for war. God grant that it can be avoided».
Viktor Khrenin announced after the meeting that the inspections showed generally good readiness of the personnel, and Lukashenka will make the final personnel decisions based on the proposals of the military department.
