Propagandist Ihar Tur received a "mouse of shame" — what is that, anyway?
We explain how a mouse became a popular dislike, using the example of ONT presenter.

Propagandist Ihar Tur decided to share his philosophy on Threads: "Belarusian men are prone from childhood to choose between certain opposites: for Cossacks or for robbers, for Nirvana or for Prodigy, for the Horde or for the Alliance, for brunettes or for blondes, for Lukashenka or for 'I don't understand politics'."
Tur was criticized for such primitive attempts at manipulation. And the "mouse of shame" in the comments gathered more likes than the post itself.
Tur's opinion was liked by 27 users, while the "mouse of shame" was supported by 51 people.

So what is this mouse? It's a new meme: the image shows a cute mouse with the caption: "This is a mouse of shame. If it gets more likes than your post, then your post is shit."
The "mouse of shame" appeared in Russian-speaking Threads just a few days ago, but has already become wildly popular.
It is not exactly known who invented this meme. At least two accounts claim authorship: one belongs to a girl from Belarus, the other to a girl from Ukraine. The Ukrainian girl even attached a Photoshop screenshot as proof — as if to say, this is how the legend was created.

But both say they were inspired by the "frog of shame," which is popular on English-language social networks.

Explaining the phenomenon of such memes' popularity is quite simple — they serve as a popular dislike. If users don't like a certain post, instead of a long comment, they simply throw in an image of an animal.
The image has a clear rule: if it gathers more likes than the original post, it means the commenters have defeated the author. This turns the discussion into a game: people start liking the mouse (or frog) on purpose.
Popular creativity did not stop there: people began actively creating other mice. There is, for example, the red mouse of shame (also known as mythical) — if it gathers more likes than the regular one, it means the post is "exceptional shit." There is a diamond one — for this, even one like is enough for everyone to understand: the post is "the dumbest shit."

And under the black mouse of shame, you don't even need to put likes. The fact that it appeared in the comments means that the author himself is shit.

Other characters have also appeared. For example, the "black thrush of basedness" (meaning the author of the post is great) and the "koala of amazement" (also signifying admiration for the author). But they are significantly less popular for now.
