Russia's largest oil refinery halted operations after drone attack

Russia's largest oil refinery, the Omsk refinery, owned by "Gazprom Neft", stopped oil processing on July 6 after a drone attack. This was reported by Reuters, citing two industry sources.

According to their information, the AVT-10 primary oil processing unit, with a capacity of 22 million tons of oil per year, was damaged and caught fire at the plant. It provided about 38% of the enterprise's production capacity, or 24.5 thousand tons of oil per day.

In addition, Reuters' interlocutors reported an emergency shutdown of the AVT-11 unit, designed to process 24 thousand tons of oil and 3.4 thousand tons of gas condensate per day. According to them, the unit itself was not damaged, but inter-workshop communications necessary for its operation were damaged. It is expected that it will be able to resume processing in the near future.

Since Tuesday, the Omsk refinery, which accounts for about 8% of all oil refining in Russia, has also stopped selling wholesale batches of automotive gasoline and diesel fuel on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange.
