Bodies of Belarusian tourists who died in Batumi delivered to Belarus
The Embassy of Belarus in Georgia announced the delivery of the bodies of two Belarusian tourists who died in a car accident in Batumi, Georgia.
All Belarusians who were injured in that accident and were in a Batumi hospital have already been discharged. Five of them returned to Belarus, where they underwent additional medical examination. The embassy noted that the Ministry of Health of Belarus provided the necessary assistance to the injured.
Three more Belarusian citizens are currently remaining in a hospital in Tbilisi, but it is expected that they will also return to their homeland soon.
The accident occurred on the morning of July 25 in Batumi. As a result of the collision, two Belarusian tourists died — 42-year-old Alena Sakhatskaya and 63-year-old Ihar. Another 12 people sustained injuries of varying severity and were taken to medical institutions.
The Belarusians were traveling in a minivan from the airport to a hotel when it collided with a passenger car. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the driver of the passenger car was intoxicated, did not have a driver's license, and was driving at high speed.
