"I arrived — the lake was gone." A reservoir disappeared in the Lahoysk district in two days
Dmitry, a resident of the Lahoysk district, contacted the Onlíner editorial office. According to the man, a reservoir in the forest literally disappeared in two days. Last Sunday, he went mushroom picking in the area — the lake was there, but by Tuesday, the water had almost completely receded.
Dmitry himself has lived nearby for a year.
— This is the first lake in these parts that I saw, and I was impressed by the nature and its pristine state. The lake is very picturesque; beavers live here, and trout are found. Fish, however, are mostly caught here in winter. In summer, it's difficult to do from the shore — perhaps only from a boat.
According to the interviewee, the reservoir is artificial. It is popularly called Dalva because it is located approximately 200 meters from the memorial complex of the same name. The nearby hydraulic structure and the dam itself have long been abandoned.
— Perhaps in former times it was used in some way, but now it's just a place for meditation. Maybe now branches and leaves have fallen in, and the water discharge was complicated, the lake overflowed and eroded the dam. There were no reasons for the water level to rise: these days were without precipitation.
I thought of renting it, but these are forest lands, so I took another lake with a similar construction, where the dam also often broke through. Now, as the owner, I monitor its integrity, clean the spillway daily, which is also in an emergency state. I also built a second emergency spillway — in August, it saved my dam. Overnight, the water level rose by 30 centimeters due to precipitation, but everything survived.
Dmitry has already contacted the Lahoysk District Inspectorate of the Ministry of Natural Resources regarding the situation.
The Lahoysk District Inspectorate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection told "Minskaya Pravda" that yesterday they received a message in Viber with the coordinates of the mentioned lake. The inspectorate announced that in the coming days they would survey the reservoir and ascertain the cause of the water discharge.
