22 Belarusians who worked at an IT company in Vilnius declared a threat to Lithuania's national security
Their temporary residence permits have been annulled, and they themselves have been expelled from Lithuania with a ban on return.
The State Security Department (SSD) reports that 22 Belarusians who worked in Lithuania at the technology company NTLAB have been declared a threat to national security, writes LRT.
The SSD submitted conclusions to the Migration Department regarding the activities of 22 Belarusian citizens in Lithuania — individuals who worked at the technology company were deemed a threat to Lithuania's national security. Their temporary residence permits in Lithuania were annulled.
It is reported that individuals posing a threat to national security have been expelled from Lithuania with a ban on return. All 22 individuals are prohibited from entering the Schengen area for five years.
The citizens expelled from Lithuania worked for a company that was involved in a project of the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and fraudulently received almost 0.5 million euros.
During the investigation organized by the European Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Financial Crime Investigation Service in cooperation with the SSD, it was established that the company concealed its connections with the Russian and Belarusian military industry.
Last week, it was reported that the Vilnius District Court sentenced two Belarusian citizens for fraud in obtaining almost 0.5 million euros.
The mentioned project was intended to create high-precision satellite navigation receivers capable of using the high-precision "Galileo" service for agricultural needs, including managing agricultural machinery and performing precision farming operations.
The total budget of the project was over 1 million euros, of which more than 745 thousand euros were financed by EUSPA. The company was actually paid 447,272 euros.
