"We are ahead of China." Trump spoke against slowing down artificial intelligence development
In his opinion, American companies should not risk losing the race for leadership in AI to China.
"We are ahead of China in AI. We are the most advanced country in the world, and frankly, I would like us to remain so, because whoever wins in AI will win," the US president told reporters on Sunday, writes the BBC.
"We can introduce more safeguards. We can do different things. But I think we have a lot of very destructive forces here that are raising questions they shouldn't be raising, and addressing issues that won't materialize," Trump added.
He did not specify which "destructive forces" he was referring to.
The US president's comment came after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's call to slow down the development of AI models to prepare for the threats they might pose.
Trump stated that he "does not underestimate" the risks and threats that may arise from AI, but believes that artificial intelligence will bring significantly more benefits than harm.
