US President Donald Trump stated that Washington does not plan to resume strikes on Iran before the US congressional midterm elections, which are scheduled for November 3. According to him, the US is currently negotiating with Iran to resolve the conflict.

"We are holding productive negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social network. "We will not strike Iran in the period leading up to the midterm elections, which will be held in the US on November 3."
At the same time, Trump emphasized that the naval blockade of Iranian ports will remain in full force, despite Iran's difficult economic and military situation.
In late September, Iran, through intermediaries, conveyed a new proposal to the US for resolving the conflict. According to it, Tehran is ready to open the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if Washington lifts the naval blockade of Iranian ports, eases oil export sanctions, and unfreezes Iranian assets.
On October 8, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that negotiations between Tehran and Washington are continuing through intermediaries. According to him, Iran will respond to the American side's comments regarding its proposal in the coming days.
