Famous Norwegian singer born in Belarus want to visit his homeland more often.
Norway’s Belarusian-born singer Alexander Rybak (Aliaksandr Rybak), the winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, said he would like to buy a summerhouse in Belarus to visit his relatives more often.
Talking to reporters Thursday on the sidelines of the ongoing Slavianski Bazar arts festival in Viciebsk, Mr. Rybak said that he had a six-year-old niece in Viciebsk, whom he had seen only twice in his life.
Commenting on his career, he said that he was awarded a diploma as a master in violin two months earlier, noting that he loved kids and worked much with children’s orchestras in Norway.
Mr. Rybak said that he used different repertoires for his concerts in Eastern European and Western countries. According to him, he sometimes sings Finnish-language songs while performing in Finland but replaces them with Russian-language songs at shows in Belarus and Russia.
He also mentioned that unlike in Norway, audiences in Belarus and Russia prefer to see artists with a makeup and dancers around during the show, he noted.
Mr. Rybak added that he, however, liked Belarus very much and wished more people visited it from across Europe.
