Andrey and Alexey Khlyastov were born into a very simple family — they had no famous relatives who could lead them to the stage by hand. Their father worked as a builder, and their mother was a computer operator.

Both Andrey and Alexey, in their time, graduated from vocational schools — obtaining blue-collar specialties. Twenty years ago, Alexey Khlyastov recounted that after 9th grade, the head teacher politely asked him to leave school. As a result, the boy ended up at vocational school №148 — learning the profession of an electrician for power and lighting equipment. But he himself joked: thank God he didn't have to work a single day in that field — because at least people have light.

— The light once went out in my apartment, and I didn't know where the fuses were, I sat without light for two hours until my dad arrived. How did I study? I sang more than I sat in lessons.

Andrey graduated from a metalworking school, becoming a locksmith-repairman by education. He worked for only two weeks — during his practical training at the Vavilov factory.

The boys got on stage through the "Ravesnik" ensemble at the Palace of Pioneers of the Frunzensky district of Minsk — Andrey started there first (he is 6 years older than Alexey), and then brought his younger brother into the collective.

Andrey still experienced the time when one could perform "via the Komsomol line" — he even traveled to Germany with concerts as part of that same "Ravesnik". Later, while studying at vocational school, he sang in amateur competitions.

In the nineties, the brothers danced tap together — Anatoly Yarmolenko himself was involved in promoting the young artists.

Neither of them entered higher education. Andrey said that after vocational school, he immediately went into the army (where he continued to sing in the ensemble). And then adult life began — he was invited to competitions, now in Jurmala, now in Vitebsk. There was somehow no time for university.

Alexey tried to become a student at the Institute of Culture but failed the Belarusian language retelling exam. And then also couldn't find time for studies.

Andrey, although less popular than his brother, released his album called "Spasibo tebe" (Thank you) in 2006 and performed with it. "Komsomolka" wrote about a curious case when the newspaper announced a concert by "A. Khlyastov," and later an indignant reader, upset by the "fake Khlyastov," contacted the editorial office.

Alexey's star confidently shone on the Belarusian stage — and not only there. He attended "Slavianski Bazaar" and "New Wave," participated in "Pesnya Goda" (Song of the Year), received numerous awards, and in 2010 recorded a joint song with German musician and producer Brandon Stone.

Occasionally, the brothers sang duets.

Andrey's success was more modest, but he also performed. As early as 2018, the STB TV channel featured him as the soloist of the group "Hlest-off".

In 2023, it became known that Alexey Khlyastov was put on a blacklist of artists — meaning he can no longer perform, not even at corporate events. District newspapers, which interviewed the artist in 2021, began deleting even old conversations.

Recently, Alexey admitted that he works as a taxi driver. Belarusians all over the world organized a large-scale flashmob in support of the singer.

And where did Andrey Khlyastov disappear to? Recently, on his social networks, he revealed that he also now works as a taxi driver.
