Viktor Lukashenko was named "special representative of the president" in Oman.
According to the press service of the Omani Foreign Ministry, during the meeting of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq with the Belarusian delegation, Viktor Lukashenko participated in the negotiations as a "special representative of the president" or "special envoy of the president," noted Reform.news. Viktor Sheiman, a former aide to Alexander Lukashenko, also holds international meetings in the same capacity.

In Belarus, the position of "special representative" or "special envoy" of the president is quite unusual. Previously, it was held by Viktor Sheiman, who, after resigning from the post of Head of Affairs of Lukashenko, became a special envoy and continued to oversee the regions of Cuba, Venezuela, and Africa.
Back in February 2021, Viktor Lukashenko was dismissed from the post of Assistant to Lukashenko for National Security and simultaneously appointed President of the National Olympic Committee. Officially, no appointment to another state position was announced, but he continued to oversee Belarus' relations with the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and, possibly, over time, with Indonesia and Algeria.
During the current meeting in Oman, as reported, the directions of investment and economic cooperation between Belarus and Oman were discussed, as well as ways to strengthen it to support the growth of the economies of both countries.
In addition to Viktor Lukashenko, the meeting was also attended by Alexander Lukashenko's youngest son, Nikolai.
