The 15th season of the culinary TV show MasterChef Italia, broadcast on Sky Uno, features 20-year-old Irene Rescifina — the daughter of Belarusian basketball player Lilia Malaya, who currently lives in Europe, Belmir.by writes.
As reported on the show's website, Irene was born in Pamplona, Spain, where her mother played, and attended first grade there. Later, the family moved to Messina, Italy — her father's hometown.
Until last year, the girl played basketball, reaching the "Serie B" level, but then sustained a serious injury and was forced to end her career. Nevertheless, she is still involved in sports — working as a referee in men's "Serie C".
Currently, Irene is also a student: she is in her second year studying law at the faculty of law. She lives in Bologna. Her passion for cooking emerged thanks to numerous travels.
This season of MasterChef Italia features 20 contestants. The winner will receive 100,000 euros, the right to publish a book with their recipes, and an internship at a renowned Italian culinary school.
